Overview
Megève was originally conceived by the Rothschild family in the 1920s as a French alternative to St. Moritz. Today, it remains one of the most beautiful and elegant ski resorts in the Alps, featuring a beautifully preserved medieval town center complete with cobblestone streets, horse-drawn sleighs, and chic boutiques. The resort seamlessly blends authentic Savoyard tradition with understated luxury. The skiing in Megève is part of the extensive Evasion Mont Blanc domain, offering over 400km of picturesque, tree-lined pistes. The terrain is overwhelmingly suited to intermediates, cruisers, and families, with sweeping red and blue runs that wind through pine forests and past charming rustic mountain huts. While expert terrain is more limited, the off-piste potential through the trees can be surprisingly good after a fresh snowfall. Beyond the slopes, Megève is renowned for its exceptional gastronomy. Boasting multiple Michelin-starred restaurants and some of the best mountain dining in Europe, the resort caters to visitors who value the culinary and cultural experience as much as the skiing itself.
Megève offers a vast, scenic playground within the Evasion Mont Blanc domain, heavily favoring intermediate cruisers and families. Much of the skiing takes place below the treeline on rolling, pasture-based slopes, meaning good visibility even in poor weather and less snow required to form a base.
