Chalet Irbis sits on the Allee des Cerisiers on the edge of Le Praz, the lowest and most traditional of the Courchevel villages, at around 1,300 metres. The village centre is a flat six-to-eight-minute walk away, with its restaurants, shops and local atmosphere. For skiing, the chalet's driver service runs guests to the lifts each morning. The return journey can be made on snow via the Jean Blanc piste, which descends directly into Le Praz from Courchevel 1850 and brings skiers to within 30 metres of the chalet, subject to snow conditions. Le Praz connects into the wider Trois Vallées network, giving access to one of the largest ski areas in the world without the price premium of the higher Courchevel villages.

Authentic Savoyard charm meets world-class skiing at the gateway to the Three Valleys.
Courchevel Le Praz, also known as Courchevel 1300, is the most traditional and authentic of the Courchevel villages. With its narrow winding streets, historic wooden chalets, and a beautiful lake, it offers a stark, charming contrast to the ultra-luxurious Courchevel 1850. Le Praz retains the soul of a true Savoyard farming village while providing seamless, modern access to the largest interconnected ski area in the world. The recent addition of the impressive Alpinium center and a state-of-the-art 10-person gondola means skiers can be whisked up to Courchevel 1850 in just under six minutes. The village is famously home to the Olympic ski jumps built for the 1992 Albertville Winter Games, and it recently took center stage by hosting the finish line of the new, formidable 'L'Eclipse' downhill track for the 2023 Alpine World Ski Championships. Skiing back down to Le Praz is a highlight for advanced skiers, featuring fantastic tree-lined runs like Jockeys and L'Eclipse that hold snow incredibly well and offer excellent visibility during whiteout days. After a day exploring the massive 600km Les 3 Vallées domain, visitors return to a quiet, welcoming village boasting some of the region's best traditional dining and a relaxed, cozy atmosphere.
Skiing in Le Praz features some of the best tree-lined runs in the Three Valleys, perfect for challenging descents and flat-light days. While the local home runs are predominantly steep reds and blacks, the new fast gondola provides instant access to the sprawling, beginner and intermediate-friendly cruising bowls of Courchevel 1850.
The largest connected ski area in the world, offering 600km of interconnected pistes spanning Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens, and Les Menuires.
The legendary 3km downhill track created for the 2023 World Championships, featuring an intense 970m vertical drop.
A classic, steep black run winding through the forest back to Le Praz, often holding excellent snow.
Beautiful, rolling tree-lined blue runs located just one valley over, ideal for snowy or low-visibility days.
Wide, gentle zen zones and green runs perfect for those learning, easily accessed via the gondola to 1850.

A variety of private transfers and shared shuttles (like Altibus) run regularly from Geneva, Lyon, and Chambery airports. The modern Alpinium building features a large 500-space underground car park right at the gondola base.
Mid-December to late April
The Le Praz gondola often stays open into the evening to allow pedestrians and diners easy access to and from Courchevel 1850.
