Chalet Shalimar sits in Winkelmatten, a residential hamlet on the southern edge of Zermatt. The Matterhorn Express gondola — the primary access point for the Matterhorn Ski Paradise ski area — is an 8-minute walk from the chalet. For those who prefer not to walk with kit, the free electric ski bus stops 140 metres away and reaches the gondola in three minutes. Returning on skis, the Moos itinerary run brings you within 75 metres of the chalet. A handful of bars and restaurants are within easy reach in Winkelmatten itself. Zermatt's main village — with its gourmet dining, après-ski scene, and luxury boutiques — is around 19 minutes on foot or a short electric taxi ride. The electric bus network also connects Winkelmatten to the village centre regularly throughout the day.
