Pila sits at around 1,800 metres in the Aosta Valley, accessed via a gondola from the regional capital of Aosta or by road. The resort is relatively compact and uncrowded compared to larger Italian ski destinations, with a ski area covering around 70 kilometres of piste suited to a range of abilities. Hotel Chalet des Alpes sits directly on the slopes with ski-in/ski-out access, removing the need for shuttle transfers or equipment carrying between accommodation and lifts. The south-facing orientation of the resort means Pila enjoys strong sunshine across much of the ski season. Aosta itself, roughly 20 minutes away, provides rail connections and a wider selection of restaurants and shops for evenings off the mountain.

Pila is a purpose-built, car-free ski resort located at 1,800m in the Aosta Valley of northwestern Italy. Uniquely accessible via an 18-minute gondola ride directly from the Roman city of Aosta on the valley floor, it offers the rare combination of high-altitude, ski-in/ski-out convenience with the option to enjoy the vibrant cultural life of an authentic Italian town below. The resort is renowned for its spectacular panoramas, offering sweeping views of Europe's highest peaks, including Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and Monte Rosa. Pila's north-facing bowl and extensive snowmaking capabilities ensure excellent snow retention throughout the season, while its slopes are beautifully sheltered by surrounding pine forests, making it an ideal destination even in poor weather. While it has a relatively compact 70km of pistes, Pila punches above its weight with its flawlessly groomed, wide red runs that are an absolute dream for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. The layout is incredibly user-friendly, funneling back toward the central resort hub, which makes it particularly popular with families and groups with varying ability levels.
Pila is an intermediate's paradise, characterized by wide, fast, and immaculately groomed red pistes that invite wide carving turns. While advanced skiers have fewer black runs, the steep pitches off the Couis 1 lift and extensive tree-skiing and freeride terrain provide plenty of exhilarating challenges.
