Wengen is a car-free village on the south-facing slopes above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, sitting at around 1,274 metres and part of the vast Jungfrau ski region. Hotel Falken sits approximately five minutes on foot from the village centre, in a quieter position that still keeps key infrastructure close. The Männlichen cable-car provides fast access to the upper ski area, while the Wengernalp railway station connects guests to Kleine Scheidegg and the broader Jungfrau network. Wengen itself is served by the Bernese Oberland Railway from Lauterbrunnen, making arrival by train from Interlaken and beyond entirely straightforward. The village offers a range of independent restaurants, shops, and après-ski options within easy walking distance of the hotel.

A classic car-free Swiss village with breathtaking views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau.
Perched on a sunny, sheltered terrace 400 meters above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, Wengen is one of Switzerland's most traditional and picturesque ski resorts. As a strictly car-free village featuring timber chalets, Belle Époque hotels, and a unique cogwheel railway, it offers an atmosphere of timeless Alpine charm. The dramatic backdrop of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains provides some of the most spectacular scenery in the skiing world. The skiing in Wengen is intrinsically linked to the neighboring resort of Grindelwald, forming a vast interconnected area dominated by sweeping red and blue runs. It is heavily favored by intermediates who enjoy long, scenic cruising, but it also boasts the famous Lauberhorn downhill track, the longest race in the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, offering a true test for advanced skiers when not in use for competition. Beyond the slopes, Wengen's appeal lies in its tranquility and slower pace of life. Walking through the snowy, traffic-free streets after a day on the mountain is a serene experience. With excellent train links connecting the village to both the valley below and the peaks above, Wengen represents the quintessential Swiss winter holiday, perfectly blending sporting heritage with spectacular nature.
Wengen is an intermediate skier's paradise, offering long, meticulously groomed red and blue runs that seamlessly connect with Grindelwald via Kleine Scheidegg and Männlichen. Advanced skiers can challenge themselves on the legendary Lauberhorn World Cup downhill piste, while beginners have access to gentle nursery slopes right in the center of the car-free village.
A UNESCO World Heritage area famous for its dramatic glaciated peaks, deep valleys, and historic mountain railways connecting Grindelwald, Wengen, and Mürren.
The bustling mountain pass connecting Wengen and Grindelwald, offering high-altitude cruising right at the foot of the dramatic Eiger North Face.
The famous World Cup downhill run. When not prepared for the race, advanced public skiers can test their legs on its steep pitches and iconic Hundschopf jump.
A sunny, wide-open plateau accessible via cable car, featuring wide, gentle slopes that are perfect for carving and building confidence.
