The Tirolerhof sits at the base of the slopes in Niederau-Oberau, directly beside the main lift and the ski school assembly area — as close to the mountain as it is possible to be without sleeping in ski boots. Niederau is part of the Wildschönau ski area in the Austrian Tyrol, a region known for its traditional village character and reliable snow conditions. The resort suits intermediate skiers and families particularly well. The village itself is compact and walkable, with the hotel's own bar and restaurant reducing the need to travel for evening meals. Transfer and flight logistics are included in the package, making arrival and departure straightforward for a group travelling from the UK.

Charming Tyrolean villages offering family-friendly skiing in the scenic Wildschönau valley.
Niederau and Oberau are picturesque, traditional villages situated in the beautiful Wildschönau valley in the Austrian Tyrol. Recognisable by the striking pointed spire of Niederau's parish church, these villages offer a relaxed, authentically Austrian winter holiday experience. They are an integral part of the expansive Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau network, which connects several local mountains into one large ski domain. Skiing in Niederau centers around the Markbachjoch and Lanerköpfl peaks, which surprisingly offer some steep, challenging red and black runs alongside excellent, dedicated beginner slopes in the valley. Oberau, just a short distance away, is much smaller and features gentle drag lifts ideal for absolute beginners and families seeking a quiet, unintimidating environment. The resort is highly praised for its value for money, welcoming locals, and excellent ski schools. With the Ski Juwel pass, visitors have access to 113km of pistes, ensuring that once beginners find their feet, there is plenty of intermediate terrain to explore via a short, free ski bus ride to neighboring Auffach.
Niederau's local Markbachjoch mountain provides a mix of steep, tree-lined red runs and fantastic dedicated beginner areas at the base. Intermediate cruisers can take the short ski bus to Auffach to access the wider Ski Juwel domain, which offers an abundance of wide, sweeping red and blue pistes on the Schatzberg.
One of Tyrol's largest connected ski areas, combining the rustic charm of the Wildschönau valley with the scenic beauty of the Alpbachtal.
Niederau's local mountain featuring surprisingly steep, challenging red runs and a historic black run.
Accessed via nearby Auffach, offering long, wide, and sunny cruising runs.
